Housing Unit Takeovers written above an image of three houses with the text: A HUT (Housing Unit Takeover) is a term used to describe a situation where a guest has moved into a tenant's unit, and the presence of the guest either puts the tenancy at risk or makes it an unsafe or inaccessible environment for the tenant to live in.

In collaboration with One City Peterborough and CMHA Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge, CCRC staff worked as part of the Finding Home team to intervene in HUT situations in Peterborough and the surrounding counties since 2022.  As a result of this work, A Guide to Housing Unit Takeovers was created based on those experience and the resources developed by Peterborough Drug Strategy and the Dream Team in Toronto.  The Finding Home project was made possible with funding and support from the United Way of Peterborough and District and the Government of Canada.
